SharePoint eSignature Now Works with Word Documents

Microsoft's native eSignature service now integrates with Word documents, not just PDFs. Request signatures directly from Word via the Insert ribbon.

SharePoint eSignature expanded to support Word documents in July 2025, eliminating the need to convert documents to PDF before requesting signatures.

Custom free text fields allow signers to add additional information beyond just their signature. Signed documents automatically save to the original folder location. The feature integrates with third-party signature providers for organizations already using DocuSign or Adobe.
